Injectables Q & A

What are injectables?

Injectables are a category of aesthetic treatments that are broadly used for anti-aging purposes. Whether your main issue is wrinkles or fine lines, there’s an injectable that can temporarily minimize them.

The team at Lancaster Wellness Med Spa makes injectable recommendations after finding out your goals during a consultation. Then, they direct you to the injectable that aligns with your goals and perform the treatments very carefully to get you the results you want to see without any complications.

What are my options for injectables?

The injectables you can get at Lancaster Wellness Med Spa fit neatly into two categories. Depending on your reasons for being interested in these aesthetic treatments, you can choose:

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators contain botulinum toxin. They act on your motor nerves to prevent signals that cause specific muscles to contract. Neuromodulators like Botox® and Dysport® treat fine lines like crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines by preventing the underlying muscle dynamics that lead to those creases.

Fillers

Fillers work in a completely different way than neuromodulators. These injectables add volume under your skin to increase plumpness or minimize larger wrinkles, like nasolabial folds. You can also use fillers for facial contouring or lip enhancement. Lancaster Wellness Med Spa offers Juvéderm® fillers that contain hyaluronic acid gel.

What should I expect when getting injectables?

When you visit Lancaster Wellness Med Spa for the injectable of your choice, you should arrive for your appointment without any makeup or products on your face. After the team marks and cleanses the treatment area, they may offer you a numbing agent like a topical product or an ice pack.

Once your skin is numb, they carefully inject the neuromodulator or filler using a needle and syringe. The process takes just minutes and you’re free to go back home or even back to work immediately. The team gives you instructions on how to care for your skin afterward and lets you know when you can expect to see the full effect.

Neuromodulators last for roughly four months* or so, while fillers last for six months or longer*, depending on where you get them.
